Psycho-Active Substances – New Offences
From the 26th May 2016 the Psychoactive Substances Act 2016 will provide a blanket ban on the production, supply and importation of psychoactive substances. It will NOT be an offence for simple possession as it would unnecessarily criminalise a very many users.

Unhappy New Year
Merry Xmas to all, but before we all celebrate the New Year, that may turn out to be an unhappy one for some, we have a new offence of Domestic Abuse under Section 76 of Serious Crime Act 2015 – Controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship which comes into force from 29th December 2015.
Criminal Court Charge No Longer Applies
From 24th December 2015 the Criminal Court Charge no longer applies which will be welcome relief to defendants appearing before the Criminal Courts in England and Wales.

Further to previous news / blog posts in relation to the current court consultation process being run by HM Court & Tribunal Services. The consultation began on the 16th July 2015 and ends on 8th October 2015. The Ministry of Justice have earmarked 91 courts for closure.
